The movie tells the story of Ali Hassan, an ambitious young Pakistani reporter who works for a low-budget local TV channel in Karachi. He dreams of migrating to the US and working for an American news channel, but his visa application is rejected six times in seven years. He gets a chance to fly to the US, but ruins it on board while filming his own audition. He recites the words Hijack and Bomb too many times, thus scaring his fellow passengers and flight crew. As soon as he reaches the US, he is deported.

While covering a local event for his channel, he comes across an Osama Bin Laden look-alike, Noora, a chicken farmer who resembles the most wanted terrorist in the world. He hits upon an idea to make a fake Osama tape using Noora as a stand-in, and sells it to his channels owner, hoping to raise money for a new identity, a new passport and a renewed attempt at getting the elusive US visa.

However, the plan backfires when the US government takes the tape seriously and gets involved, as do the Pakistani intelligence agencies. Noora also realizes the trick played upon him and hides in his house. Ali decides to defuse the situation by making another tape in which Osama would be declaring ceasefire with the US. He manages to convince Noora and his team to cooperate, but things go wrong when Noora accidentally detonates a grenade, which kills his beloved prize rooster. Depressed, Noora runs away from the location with the Osama makeup still on, forcing Ali and his team to follow suit.

The movie is full of hilarious moments and witty dialogues that poke fun at both sides of the conflict. The movie also features some catchy songs composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and sung by Ali Zafar, who plays the lead role of Ali Hassan. The movie also stars Pradhuman Singh as Noora/Osama, Piyush Mishra as Majeed Khan, Sugandha Garg as Zoya, Rahul Singh as Qureshi and Barry John as Ted Wood.

The movie was released worldwide, except in the US and Pakistan, on 16 July 2010. It received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, and was nominated for seven awards at various film festivals. A sequel, Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive, was released in 2016.

Tere Bin Laden: A Critical and Commercial Success

Tere Bin Laden was well received by both critics and audiences for its original and audacious concept, its witty and hilarious script, its superb performances and its sharp satire on the global politics and media. The movie was nominated for seven awards at various film festivals, including the Filmfare Awards, the Screen Awards, the Stardust Awards and the Zee Cine Awards. The movie also did well at the box office, earning 1,150 million (US$14 million) worldwide on a budget of 258 million (US$3.2 million).

The movie was praised for its clever use of humor and satire to deal with a sensitive and controversial topic. The movie also avoided being offensive or insensitive to any community or country, and instead focused on the absurdity and hypocrisy of the situation. The movie also showcased the talent of Ali Zafar, who made his debut as an actor in Bollywood with this movie. He also sang some of the songs in the movie, which became popular among the listeners.

Tere Bin Laden: A Sequel That Failed to Impress

In 2016, a sequel to Tere Bin Laden was released, titled Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive. The sequel was written and directed by Abhishek Sharma, and featured some of the original cast members as well as new additions like Manish Paul, Sikander Kher and Mia Uyeda. The sequel narrated the story of an aspiring filmmaker who bumps into an Osama bin Laden look-alike, and also sampled materials from the prequel.

However, the sequel failed to live up to the expectations of the fans and critics of the original movie. The sequel was criticized for its lack of originality, its weak script, its poor direction and its unfunny jokes. The sequel also failed to perform well at the box office, earning only 40 million (US$500,000) worldwide on a budget of 140 million (US$1.8 million).

The sequel was widely considered as a disappointment and a waste of potential, as it could not match the brilliance and charm of the original movie. The sequel also tarnished the reputation and legacy of the original movie, which is still regarded as one of the best comedy movies of Indian cinema. 04f6b60f66
